Group photo project
A summer day at Crag Top
We can’t put a date to this one, although it’s probably the late 1950s or early ‘60s.
What we can say is that it’s a pleasant summer’s day at Crag Top and a group of
young people are drinking pop, tea and – most intriguingly – “Ye Olde Crag Top
Nettle Beer”.
There are 11 people in this photo – one is almost completely hidden, can you spot him ?
We’ve put names to 9 of them.

Earlier in the century there seem to have been a couple of places on Farnhill Moor
where you could get refreshments. This clipping is from a 1912 edition of the Keighley
News.
About the “Group photographs project”
A number of group photographs have been contributed to our archive with very
little information attached to them. The aim of this project is to capture as much
detail as we can from those who might remember the events and people shown.
For this photograph, the “identifiers” were Rosemary Hargreaves (who appears
on the photograph) and Christine Whiteoak. With thanks to John Laycock for the
newspaper clipping.
We are very grateful to them for their help.
Can you help ?
Do you know any of the missing names on this photograph or do you have any
other group photographs from Kildwick or Farnhill. If so, please contact us at
